The March First Friday session is at the Griffin Inn in Lisvane, Cardiff. It promises to be busy and a number of the capital's players will be joining the Newport regulars. Get there early to get a seat, we hope kick off about 8.00 pm.

• Get off at Junction 30 of the M4
• Take first left off the slip road
• Take 3rd exit at next roundabout
• Straight on (2nd exit) at next Roundabout
• Left at the T- Junction then immediately right
• Downhill and turn left (only through Rd)
• Up the hill and straight across the mini roundabout
• 3rd Exit at next Roundabout
• Straight through the windy lanes takes you into Lisvane
• At next mini Roundabout turn right and the Griffin is immediatley on the left (has parking)

Back in Newport this year, the Welsh leg of the Comhaltas UK tour was a great success. The Dolman Theatre provided a fine venue for the final concert of the tour and the audience were treated to a polished show of music, dance and song from Ireland's (and Italy's!) finest performers. oOo   Back in Newport after two years in Cardiff is the Comhaltas UK tour concert (Echoes of Erin) at the Dolman Theatre. oOo The March First Friday session has moved to Cardiff while the April session is cancelled. oOo There is however an extra session at the Irish club on St. Patrick’s night. oOo

First Friday Griffin Inn, Lisvane
The March session has moved to the Griffin Inn (Church Road, Lisvane CF 14 0SJ) in Cardiff. The village is north of Cardiff near to the M4 but a bit tricky to find if you don’t know the place; directions are on our website. The pub is old with lots of character and an appreciative local audience! Start about 8.00 pm.

April’s First Friday session has been cancelled because it coincides with Good Friday and the Easter vacation.

2010 Feis Irish Club
The Feis is a chance for learners to play in a competition style setting in front of adjudicators. This is good practice for anyone who wants to enter competitions for real. Those who take part leave with valuable advice from an experienced musician on how to improve their playing.

Midland Fleadh Princethorpe College
After having a go at the Feis you’ll be ready for this! Competitors from all over the UK Midland Region will be going to Princethorpe College for the Fleadh. Even if you don’t compete, It’s a great social occasion and a chance to see some great playing of all the instruments. We are hoping to run a coach to the venue, more about this later.

The inaugural First Friday ceili (see below) has had to be cancelled, and will take place next month on the 5th, followed as usual by a session in the bar.

The First Friday session will take place as normal on Friday. February 5th at 9 PM in the Irish club bar.

Tickets are now available for this year's Echoes of Erin concert at the Dolman theatre, Newport starting at 7.30 PM. Prices: Adult £10.00, child £5.00. Contact Amairgin the Gael to book yours now.
