Croeso : Céad Míle Fáilte : Welcome

We play and teach traditional Irish music, dance and language in Newport.

CLASSES are suitable for all and held at St Julian's Methodist Church Hall in a secure environment.JOIN our mailing list to keep informed about our activities and changes in our regular events.FIND OUT more about our music and dance classes.HEAR US at the First Friday Session (not August) at the Irish Club or the second and fourth Sundays at Dempsey's in Cardiff.SEE US on YouTube.JOIN our club!

The new venue for our Tuesday night teaching is St Julian's Church Hall on Caerleon Road. Every room and corner is being using to the full, we have a wide range of ages and instruments being taught on the nights. Right now everyone is busy practicing for the Regional Fleadh in April. Enjoy the photo gallery from last Tuesday (Jan 30), more photos from previous years on the Gallery page.

Tuesday night teaching resumed on the 10th Jan at St Julian's Methodist Church Hall. We look forward to seeing students and members new and old at our new venue in St Julian's.

The church is a well known landmark on Caerleon Road a little further into Newport from the turn off for Glan Usk. We have been happily based at Glan Usk Primary School for nearly two years, however we frequently had to cancel because of other school commitments on Tuesday nights. Apart from a better guarantee of availability the venue is easier for people using the bus and is in the centre of the local community.

Starting Sunday 27th November we'll be having a session at Dempsey's on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Kicking off at 8 pm all musicians are as usual welcome, we'll be in the front bar.

You can find Dempsey's on Castle Street, Cardiff, opposite the castle. Contact us for more information.

Another cracking Friday night session in this busy city centre pub. Two pipers, flutes, fiddle, box, banjo, guitar and bodhran played till gone midnight to a crowd who sang and danced along with us.

Hopefully this will be a regular session for the branch, every month between the Newport First Friday session. All welcome!

Dempsey's Bar opposite Cardiff Castle was the venue for October's first Friday session. A seven stong group from Amairgin the Gael entertained city revellers with our usual mix of tunes and songs.

Dempsey's is a regular venue for live music but does not ususally host informal sessions. This may become a regular venue for us in addition to the Newport session.

Marianne McAleerMarianne McAleer won the silver medal in the senior lilting competition in Cavan town, also coming 4th in the Singing in English section.

Marianne had entered four competitions in all after her efforts at the All Britain Fleadh, including the newly ocmposed tune section. We are looking forward to seeing and hearing Marianne in the very near future.

The sun shone for most of our performance at this year's Caerleon Arts Festival Grand Finale Weekend. We had a good turnout and it was especially pleasing to be accompanied most of our junior members, who started our show with two of their favourite sets. Thank you to everyone who attended.
